Street Food and Wat Arun

The real highlight of the day was Greg and Jim's fishing trip where they each caught several enormous fish. Jim has promised to guest write his own entry and upload pictures so you can see...it sounded insane.

Addi, Bonnye and I started the day grazing on some delicious Bangkok street food...satays, spring rolls, tiny hotdogs and quail eggs wrapped in fried wanton. Also available: anything you can imagine, and all delicious. I really have not given the street food here due recognition. It is the best of all the places we have been on this grand adventure.

On semi-full tummies, we took a train then a boat to Wat Arun (Temple of the Dawn) and marveled at the flowers made with broken china plates....in fact, much of the mosaic decoration on this understated gorgeous temple are made with broken china. We climbed the steep stairs for a gorgeous view of the river and city, got up close to some demons, and admired the mosaic.

Then we took the boat across the river, had a cocktail (or an orange juice) and delicious pomelo salad, and grabbed a fast and furious tuk-tuk home. A perfect girls day- as always!

  1. What a great photo of Addi with the statue just her height! It sounds like she has the same open mind about food that Jim blessedly always has had (Jim, recall Belgium and the Waserzoi, etc) :-). We can't wait for the fish tales!! lots of love from Baba and Grandpa Doug
