Somber Entry

Upon reading this newspaper headline, I am beginning to feel like we have pushed our luck in escaping water tragedy.

We just missed the massive flooding in Queensland and Victoria, Australia in January and apparently got out of Phuket just in time to miss theirs. If we had not cancelled Kho Phi Phi, we would still be stranded there! Not to mention the 2004 Tsunami which (mildly) impacted Tanzania while we were there and the Japan Tsunami (to which we feel close-although are still very far away).

While on a somber topic, the news reports that more than 150 villagers died in the Burmese earthquake we felt last week.

As Addi says, please "make prays" for all of those impacted.

  1. You, Jim and Addi have been in my thought every day since you left for your adventure. Watching the global news of all the craziness and tragedies going on in so many parts of the globe brings us together as people regardless of culture / beliefs / etc., but it also makes the world seem more vast when you are missing and worrying about loved ones far away. I am so thankful you are safe. I am also so glad we live in a time when we can keep in touch so easily and get daily updates. Imagine waiting for a telegram with news?!?

Addi is the sweetest little girl. I love that her heart and mind are so open at such a young age - imagine how much this trip will influence her as she grows.

Safe travels back to the Oz and the US. Miss you! xoxo Chauncey
